Discover the secret ingredient for creating the rich hot chocolate served at Italian cafes.

Italian Hot Chocolate is a rich, indulgent treat that’s different from the typical hot chocolate you might find in the U.S. It’s not a thin, liquid drink but a thick, velvety concoction so creamy you can eat it with a spoon. Perfect for winter, it’s easy to make at home with just cocoa, milk, sugar and cornstarch. No need for instant powders -this recipe will give you a comforting, decadent treat in less than 5 minutes.
You can serve it plain or add your favorite nuts or whipped cream on top!
SERVES 2 to 3
Ingredients
2 cups of milk (any type of milk works)
1/4 cup of sugar
2 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
Method
1. In a small saucepan, combine the cornstarch, sugar, and cocoa powder. Stir them together to mix evenly.
2. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring to create a smooth, lump-free mixture.
3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and continue stirring constantly. As the mixture heats up, it will begin to thicken.
4. Once it reaches your desired consistency, remove from heat and serve.
